Rey Mysterio recently reflected on the rapid growth and success of his son, Dominik Mysterio, within WWE.
Dominik has been at the center of major storylines on WWE Raw, particularly after his betrayal of Rhea Ripley and his subsequent alliance with Liv Morgan, which played a key role in the implosion of The Judgment Day at SummerSlam.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Rey Mysterio expressed pride in his son’s achievements, noting that he always believed Dominik would surpass his own accomplishments.
“I’ve always known, deep down inside my heart that my son was going to be bigger than his father,” Rey said. “I didn’t know in what way. But I just knew that he was going to do things that I wasn’t able to do and he was going to take it to the next level.”
Rey highlighted how Dominik’s progression is part of a generational shift, with each generation striving to elevate the legacy.
“That’s what generations are about, taking it to the next level. He’s doing it and he’s surprising all of us, his family, his peers, the fans,” Rey added.
Dominik Mysterio began his training in 2018 and made his WWE debut in March 2019. He quickly rose through the ranks, with his first match taking place at SummerSlam 2020. By 2022, Dominik had joined The Judgment Day, after a heated feud with his father, and became a standout star with his “Dirty” persona. He achieved notable success by winning the NXT North American Championship twice.
Despite suffering an injury in April 2024 that sidelined him from in-ring action, Dominik remained an active figure on WWE television. His storyline with Liv Morgan, which culminated at SummerSlam 2024, marked a significant turning point as The Judgment Day underwent a dramatic transformation, with both Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley being ousted from the group.
Dominik Mysterio’s journey in WWE continues to captivate fans, and with his father’s belief in his potential, it’s clear that Dominik is destined for even greater things.
