CM Punk has been on a tear lately, becoming one of the biggest attractions in the company. He has a natural ability for comedy and that’s why it’s no surprise he is set to star in an upcoming comedy film this year.
Prominent comedian Stavros Halkias took to Twitter today and officially announced that the comedy film ‘Let’s Start a Cult’ will be releasing in theaters on October 25th. The most interesting aspect of this movie is the fact that CM Punk will be featured in the film as well, as his name has been prominently mentioned in the official poster for the movie.
“Let’s Start a Cult” is a film created by Ben Kitnick, who co-wrote the script with stars Stavros Halkias (known for “certified cumboy” and the Stavvy’s World podcast) and Wes Haney (featured in Netflix’s “The Characters: Tim Robinson”). The cast includes Eric Rahill (from FX’s “The Bear”), Katy Fullan (from HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm”), and Daniel Simonsen (from BBC’s “House of Fools”).
The film also features appearances by Joe Pera (from Adult Swim’s “Joe Pera Talks With You”), Ethan Suplee (“My Name is Earl”), Tom Papa (Netflix’s Tom Papa: You’re Doing Great!), and Phil “CM Punk” Brooks.
“Having missed out on his cult’s long awaited ritual suicide, an obnoxious loser teams up with his bogus ex-messiah to rebuild their doomsday commune. Traveling together through middle America, the constantly-bickering duo induct a military wannabe, a mentally unstable mom, and a mysterious foreign hitchhiker into their cult… but will this family of outcasts fulfill their transcendent destiny, or decide this life might be worth living after all?”
CM Punk had signed with Paradigm Talent Agency earlier this year and clearly it has been benefiting him in a big way. Regardless, we will have to wait and see how Punk will fare in the upcoming dark comedy, as fans are definitely excited for it.
