Bobby Lashley, recognized for his impressive second stint with WWE—marked by two WWE Championship reigns and several notable storylines—has recently left the company. In light of his departure, Jim Cornette has expressed his belief that Lashley wouldn’t be a good fit for AEW.

Earlier this year, Lashley suffered an injury during training, which forced him to withdraw from the King of the Ring tournament. Since then, he has been absent from WWE television, leaving fans to wonder about his status with the company.

Bobby Lashley had also been moved to the Alumni section, and it was confirmed that The Almighty had parted ways with WWE. It was then reported that his likely destination would be AEW.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Jim Cornette was asked about Bobby Lashley potentially going to AEW. Cornette commented on the potential challenges of signing Bobby Lashley to AEW. He questioned whether Lashley would end up in handicap matches or have to adjust his style to accommodate smaller wrestlers in the company. Cornette wondered who in AEW could work a regular wrestling match with Lashley, aside from MJF, and expressed doubt that Tony Khan would make a smart move by signing him.

Lashley noted that Lashley is too significant a star and too physically imposing for many AEW wrestlers, and feared that it would look like “child abuse” in the ring. Cornette also mentioned that while there are numerous potential opponents for Lashley in WWE, he couldn’t think of anyone in AEW who would be a meaningful match or not look out of place.

“You sign Bobby Lashley in AEW, what is every match he’s going to have—a handicap match, or is he going to have to f***** try to fly around for these f***** midgets? How many somersaults can he do? Who could he work with in that company that wouldn’t just be visually repellent but could actually work a regular wrestling match with him, past MJF at this point?

I’m just saying, Bobby Lashley is too big a star and literally too big a guy. I don’t think Tony Khan would be smart enough to want to sign him or have anyone for him to work with that would be palatable, that it wouldn’t look like child abuse by a grown adult.

It’s a shame because there are a dozen people you would think of that Bobby Lashley could have a program with right now in WWE, but I can’t think of anyone in AEW who would be meaningful for him to work with or who wouldn’t look ridiculous.”

The potential name for MVP and Bobby Lashley’s faction following their WWE exit has also been revealedLashley has confirmed that he has boxing match on the horizon, so it remains to be seen whether Lashley will sign with AEW this year.
