Ronda Rousey made waves after her departure from WWE following her match against Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam last year. Since leaving the company, Rousey has not held back in her criticism, particularly targeting Vince McMahon. She has openly discussed the difficulties she faced during her time with WWE, claiming that she often had to fight against McMahon to deliver good matches.

In several candid interviews earlier this year, Rousey shared her frustrations with WWE and its leadership, including Bruce Prichard and John Laurinaitis. She didn’t mince words, using strong language to express her displeasure and alleging that WWE discriminated against women.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rousey shed light on why her highly anticipated match with Becky Lynch never took place at WrestleMania, placing the blame squarely on Vince McMahon. When asked about the situation, Rousey didn’t hold back in her response:

Chris Van Vliet: “Why couldn’t the Becky match happen at WrestleMania?”

Chris Van Vliet: “So there’s no love lost here with Vince McMahon?”

Rousey also addressed her feelings about McMahon’s views on her in-ring performances. She admitted that she wasn’t concerned with McMahon’s opinions and focused instead on putting on great matches. She described her experience in WWE as a constant battle against obstacles, likening it to traversing the Dead Marshes from Lord of the Rings. Despite these challenges, Rousey found joy in the moments she spent in the ring, often disregarding backstage politics and poor planning.

“I didn’t give a sht about that. I didn’t really give a fck what Vince thought to be honest. I just wanted to have a great match. Sometimes I felt like instead of enabling us to have a great match, we were fighting against him in order to have a great match,” Rousey said. “Once I was in there and in the moment and lost in it, there’s no better feeling than when you’re in it and you believe the story and you’re out there with your friends and you’re having a blast.”

Rousey also expressed her frustration with WWE’s lack of communication and planning, noting how difficult it was to get any information in advance. After her matches, she often felt disillusioned with the lack of direction and chose to focus on her family and other pursuits outside of wrestling.

“Then we come back and then I come back to the curtain. I’m like, f*ck you, I’m going to my baby. I don’t want to hear sh*t unless you actually have a plan for next week, which you don’t. You don’t have a f*cking plan. I’m trying to get any information all week long, and then no one’s gonna tell me sh*t until I get to the arena, and I’m still not gonna hear anything for hours.

And they’re like so when are you coming back? I’m gonna go write a graphic novel, come talk to me later, I need a break.”

Despite being labeled as bitter by some for her anti-WWE remarks, Rousey remains focused on her current career endeavors. As she moves forward, it’s clear that her wrestling days are behind her, and she’s content with leaving that chapter in the past.
