With over 20 years of fan support and extensive experience, Randy Orton is now one of the top stars in the company. He appears more motivated than ever after getting a second chance following a serious back injury that nearly ended his career. While Orton is a respected veteran in 2024, his early years were quite different.

Orton was seen as a very problematic person backstage in WWE during his early days. The Viper would eventually become a better person after meeting his wife Kim, and he even gave her some credit for that change.

While speaking in an interview with Matty Paddock of TalkSport, Randy Orton discussed how he might have handled starting his WWE career as a 19-year-old in 2024. He said that when he began, social media wasn’t a big thing, with platforms like Myspace and Facebook only becoming popular later.

“If I was 19 and signing my developmental deal and going to NXT in 2024… gosh, I don’t know, that is a tough question, man. As far as social media goes, that wasn’t a thing for the first ten years of my career. I remember there being Myspace and maybe Facebook came out like in 2008 or something, but it wasn’t as popular around that point.”

Orton admitted he hasn’t used social media much, but he knows that today everyone has a camera on their phone, making it easy for people to capture and share moments. He wasn’t sure how he would have dealt with this kind of attention when he was younger.

“I never had a Facebook, and I think it was maybe around 2011 when I signed up on Twitter and it had been around a little while. I don’t know, man. I’ve done some dumb s*** and everybody’s got a camera phone in their pocket right now. Honest answer? There’s no telling how I’d fare if I was growing up in the business in this day and age.”

Orton hoped that if he were starting out now, he would understand the importance of behaving well and representing the company properly. Orton also noted that if he had acted the same way as he did in his early twenties, he wouldn’t have lasted long in the business.

“I would like to think I’d be with the times and would understand the gravity of the situation as far as representing the company in public and everything like that. But if I was doing the kind of s*** I was doing in my early twenties now, I wouldn’t be around long.”

After all, Randy Orton recently admitted that he was being chased by police for blowing up dynamite in the past. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Orton got fired as a new WWE Superstar in this day and age.
