Vince McMahon ruled over WWE with an iron fist for several years but he is currently dealing with sexual trafficking lawsuit. With that said, rumors spread that McMahon’s health has been declining lately and now Eric Bischoff has responded to such rumors in an interesting way.
Lee Cole initially reported rumors about Vince McMahon’s health, claiming that Linda McMahon had told people her husband’s health was worsening. Cole, whose late brother Tom Cole had previously accused WWF of sexual misconduct, said the information came from someone who had worked for the McMahons for seven years but did not reveal their identity.
While speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff commented on the rumors about Vince McMahon’s declining health. He acknowledged having great professional respect and admiration for McMahon, recognizing his pivotal role in shaping the modern wrestling industry. Bischoff highlighted McMahon’s vision in the 1980s, including his efforts to go national, acquire territories, and establish pay-per-view, which helped build the high level of professional wrestling we see today.
Despite his respect, Bischoff also mentioned that personal issues with McMahon are a different matter. He suggested that he might challenge McMahon to a fight, believing it could serve as a motivating factor for McMahon to recover and make a comeback. Bischoff noted that McMahon is known for his fighting spirit and suggested that a challenge might be just what he needs to get back on track. While Bischoff hasn’t decided to issue such a challenge yet, he thought it could potentially inspire McMahon.
“Yeah, I caught wind of it. You know, this is such a complicated issue because I have nothing but professional respect and admiration for Vince McMahon in many ways—though not in all ways. You cannot be a fan of what we watch today, wherever we watch it, and not understand that if it weren’t for Vince McMahon’s vision back in the ’80s, going national, eating up the territories, creating pay-per-view, and building the model that made professional wrestling exist at such a high level, we wouldn’t be here today. I’ll always respect that.
The personal stuff is a different issue, but I kind of feel like I should challenge Vince to a fight right now. Oh gosh, listen, because I know deep down inside he wishes he would have shown up when I challenged him the first time. Vince McMahon is enough of a fighter deep down in his core that probably nothing would heal him as quickly and get him back on his feet at 100% like being challenged to a fight. That guy will go down fighting. Why not give him the inspiration? I’m not going to do it quite yet, but I might. Only because I think if there’s anything that would make him kick out and make a comeback, it would be something like that.”
Vince McMahon’s attorney has also released a statement on the rumors and denied them. Vince McMahon did undergo spinal surgery in July 2023 and was seen using cane during a public appearance, but there’s no guarantee he is actually getting worse by the day. Regardless, we’ll have to see if Vince McMahon himself will addresses such rumors somewhere down the line.
