Kevin Sullivan recently passed away, prompting numerous tributes and causing Chris Benoit to trend due to their controversial history. Sullivan’s health had been declining in recent times.

On the latest Kliq This podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash and co-host Sean Oliver discussed Kevin Sullivan’s passing. Nash mentioned seeing Sullivan last year and noted that Sullivan had been dealing with heart issues.

“We talked and he had some congestive heart problems,” Nash said. “Last time I saw him, I was with my buddy Dave Herro. We were at a signing and we all had dinner together. That was like the last time I sat down with Kev, maybe a year ago. I could tell he was weak. Plus he had been there all day. It was late like 9:30 when we were catching some food, but he was quiet.”

“One of the best. He was a great character. He was believable, and he wasn’t a very big man. He was muscular wise. He had some gigantic thighs, but he knew how to get over. He knew what heat was and when he got a chance to be on the creative end, I mean, I’ve said it a million times that if we don’t have Kevin Sullivan, it wouldn’t have mattered who was the third man because if we didn’t have heat and the ability to pour heat on us (it wouldn’t work).”

“One thing I will say about Sting and Lex and Randy and the crew of guys that were working as babyfaces, Piper, Ric, Mongo, Arn, you know, all those guys that were working as babyfaces, they let us get a sh*tload of heat on them week after week after week, and it wasn’t for them being giving, then it wouldn’t have happened.”

In May 2024, Sullivan was involved in a “devastating accident” that had a significant impact on his health. He underwent surgery and experienced multiple complications, which affected his ability to function independently. On July 15, Sullivan mentioned that he was in the process of recovering. Sullivan passed away from complications of a blood clot in Concord, Massachusetts, on August 9, 2024, at the age of 74.

In his final days, Sullivan received an outpouring of support from the wrestling community, with many “Thank you Kevin” and “Get well Kevin” messages and videos sent his way. Wrestling legend Ric Flair was among those who paid tribute, writing on X, “Kevin Sullivan has been one of my closest friends in the business. His knowledge of all sports, not just wrestling, is unparalleled. He is one of the most brilliant minds in the history of our business… Stay strong Kevin!!!! We need you.”
