Chris Jericho is truly a veteran in the pro wrestling industry, whose career has spanned more than 30 years. He spent the majority of those years in WWE, where Jericho became a household name. He had a solid relationship with Vince McMahon and now has revealed how McMahon told him he had the privilege of not doing angles if Jericho didn’t want to.

Chris Jericho joined WWE in 1999, during the height of the Attitude Era, a time known for its provocative and often controversial content. The era featured memorable yet questionable moments, such as Mae Young giving birth to a hand and Stephanie McMahon’s unintended drive-through wedding to Triple H.

While speaking on a recent episode of his Talk is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho discussed his reaction to a segment where Mark Henry and Mae Young were depicted in bed together. He shared that he expressed his discomfort with such content to Vince McMahon, specifically mentioning his unease with sexual storylines.

McMahon assured him that if there was ever anything he was uncomfortable with, he could speak up and would not be forced into it. Jericho acknowledged that, true to McMahon’s word, he was not put in any similarly outrageous situations.

“I told Vince (McMahon) on the phone, they had just done this thing where Mark Henry had sex with Mae Young and I said, ‘Are you ever going to make me do anything like that because I don’t really feel comfortable doing the sexual stuff.’ ‘If there is anything you ever don’t want to do, just tell me, you don’t have to do it. We’ll never have you do anything like that anyway.’ To his credit, I never had to do anything that ridiculous. I don’t think I did anything that ridiculous.”

Chris Jericho also believes everyone in AEW needed to work under Vince McMahon. Regardless, Jericho will always have an interesting relationship with McMahon and that’s never changing.
