Bryan Danielson may wrestle his final match at All In on August 25. Wembley Stadium will witness the former WWE World Champion take on Swerve Strickland, with AEW’s top prize on the line. Adding to the drama, Danielson’s AEW contract has expired, and it appears he hasn’t received any offers from elsewhere.
Bryan Danielson has provided an important update on his AEW status ahead of his major match at the August 25 All In London pay-per-view. This Sunday’s event is crucial for Danielson, as it could mark the end of his illustrious career. He will either walk out of Wembley Stadium as the face of AEW or as a retired wrestler.
Leading up to this pivotal match, Danielson revealed that his contract with AEW has already expired. In a conversation with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Danielson confirmed his current free-agent status, stating: “I have no contract right now. I’m not under contract.”
When asked if he had received any offers from outside AEW, Danielson responded to reveal that there is actually nobody calling him from any other company at this time. This may be a shock, but he also doesn’t look at his phone very often.
“Not a single person. People who really know me, know that I don’t look at my phone very much. Even for this interview, the AEW representative and my manager were reaching out to me and (my manager) ended up calling my wife, and then my wife called me to remind me that I had media this morning.“
“It’s a blessing and a curse. It allows me to be more in the moment with my wife and kids and doing all these different things, but when people want to really get ahold of me, then I’m not available.“
“That said, right now, I have 3998 unread text messages, I’m almost at 4000. There is also a lot of missed calls. There could have been somebody in there, but that would require me to go through and look at all my missed text messages.”
Danielson, who is set to challenge for Swerve Strickland’s AEW World Championship, has made it clear that if he loses, he will retire from the ring entirely, rather than transition into a part-time role as he had previously suggested.
We will keep a very close eye on this story, as you never know what Tony Khan might book next. Bryan Danielson is one of the greatest to ever lace up his boots, but his swan song could very well happen at Wembley Stadium. It also seems that WWE isn’t calling, and Danielson likely wouldn’t need to lie about that.
What’s your take on how AEW All In will end at Wembley Stadium? Will we see a new AEW World Champion on August 25? Do you think Danielson will eventually make his way back to WWE, at least for a Hall of Fame induction? Share your thoughts in the comments section!
