During a WWE house show this week, the Bloodline’s Tag Team Championship defense strategy was put on display with a new tag team combination stepping up to defend the titles, as WWE confirmed a change to their reign.
Despite missing SmackDown this week, Tonga Loa confirmed he’s not injured by appearing in the ring to defend the title as part of the Bloodline. During the show in Lakeland, Florida, the Bloodline faced off against DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) for the tag team championship.
Interestingly, it was Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa who defended the titles, indicating that the Bloodline may rotate its members when defending the tag team championship as part of the Free Bird Rule.
Although Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu originally won the WWE Tag Team Championship, the titles will also be represented by various combinations within the faction, including the duo of Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. Unsurprisingly, the Bloodline successfully retained their titles.
Jacob Fatu made his long-awaited return to action during the August 17th episode of WWE SmackDown, marking his first appearance since SummerSlam and he helped destroy Roman Reigns in decisive fashion to close the show. Regardless, we’ll have to see how The Bloodline’s reign as the WWE Tag Team Champions will turn out, as they remain as dominant as ever.
