Drew McIntyre has been on a dominant winning streak for months, with his feud with CM Punk dominating WWE television for a long time now. McIntyre defeated Punk at SummerSlam, but it appears he is also interested in a match with John Cena.
John Cena intends to end his in-ring career next year, bringing an end to a Hall of Fame-worthy career. Cena will begin his retirement tour in January and finish it in December, confirming himself for around 35 dates.
While speaking during the Fanatics Fest, Drew McIntyre mentioned that he has been actively pushing for a match with John Cena, stating that he has many more stories Cena Punk from his younger days than he has about Punk.
McIntyre emphasized that there has never been a one-on-one match between them. McIntyre expressed his determination to drive management and John Cena crazy if necessary to get the match. He believes he can outdo Cena both on the microphone and in the ring, aiming to send Cena into a happy retirement, hopefully taking Punk along with him.
”I’ve been pushing and nudging them left and right to make it happen cause the amount of stories I got on Punk when I was younger, I got ten fold on him. There was never a one on one match, if I have to drive management crazy, I’ll drive them crazy, I’ll drive John crazy, I’m gonna get that match and I’ll tear him apart on the microphone, which not everyone can do, in the ring and send him packing in a happy retirement and hopefully Punk along with him.”
We have also reported on WWE’s plans for CM Punk and Drew McIntyre at Bash in Berlin, as they will likely face off against each other in Strap match. Nevertheless, we’ll have to see if Cena and McIntyre will square off against each other next year.
