At the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank event in Toronto, John Cena announced his retirement from professional wrestling. While his farewell tour is scheduled to start next year, Cody Rhodes has made it clear he would be honored to face Cena during his retirement tour.
In his announcement, John Cena revealed that he will play a role in transitioning WWE RAW to Netflix. He also shared that his final wrestling appearances will be at the Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 2025. Instead of a single retirement match, John Cena will embark on a farewell tour in 2025, spanning multiple dates. His in-ring career is scheduled to conclude in December 2025.
While speaking during the Fanatics Fest, Cody Rhodes was asked if he wanted to square off against John Cena as part of Cena’s retirement tour. The American Nightmare made sure to put over the 16-time World Champion first.
Afterwards, Cody Rhodes made it abundantly clear that he would be more than honored to face off against The Leader of Cenation in any capacity, as he called John Cena the GOAT.
“It would be an honor of my life to wrestle John Cena in any capacity. He’s the goat for a reason.”
John Cena has also confirmed his post-retirement role in WWE. Regardless, we will have to wait and see when John Cena and Cody Rhodes will face each other next year, as fans would love to see them wrestle in a singles bout.
