AEW has come far in the past five years since their humble beginnings, as many consider AEW proper competition for WWE. In fact, WWE will be holding a special live event the same day and city as an AEW pay-per-view.
On August 16, 2024, WWE SmackDown was held at the Kia Center in Orlando, FL. During the event, WWE announced that they would be returning to the venue for a “Holiday Tour” live event on Saturday, December 28th.
Interestingly enough, AEW’s World’s End 2024 pay-per-view will also take place in Orlando at the Addition Financial Arena, scheduled for the same time as WWE’s holiday event. Tickets for World’s End, initially announced for Orlando on April 11th, have not been released yet.
It is not known whether WWE is deliberately holding the live event on the same day as AEW Worlds End on December 28th, but this simply means Tony Khan will need to ensure he has a good enough card for the pay-per-view to compete with WWE. Therefore, we’ll have to see how both events fare against each other.
