The world is closely watching Roman Reigns’ return to WWE. Although the Original Tribal Chief hasn’t yet gained the upper hand on his former stable, there are still many stories to unfold. The Rock might be part of that narrative, but it could take some time to develop.

The Rock has already announced his return to WWE for WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. While his storyline for that event hasn’t started, all indications point to Cody Rhodes being his opponent. That would be a major match, but The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is still on the horizon.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned that The Rock and Roman Reigns are likely to face off at WrestleMania 42. Although this isn’t confirmed, Meltzer shared that this is his gut feeling.

“My gut was Roman vs Rock for 2026 WrestleMania. It could still be what they do. Solo was there, and Jacob was there to pass the time to get there. Again, when you are talking about stuff that far out, there are a million things that can happen.”

A lot can change over two years, especially in pro wrestling. Roman Reigns vs. The Rock was the match they initially wanted for WrestleMania 40, but that didn’t materialize. The story of how they altered that angle was later turned into a full-length documentary.

We’ll have to see who The Rock faces in the future, but he doesn’t return to WWE often. His schedule is packed with his tequila and football ventures, not to mention his ongoing acting career. Only time will tell how WWE handles The Rock’s return, but he will eventually be back.
