WWE has solidified its position as a global powerhouse in professional wrestling, extending its influence beyond the wrestling world through strong connections with major leagues such as the NFL, NHL, and NBA. The trend of WWE Premium Live Events evolving into two-night affairs is becoming increasingly common. Recent reports now suggest that next year’s SummerSlam is expected to follow this two-night format.
WWE SummerSlam 2024 took place at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 3rd. While the date for SummerSlam 2025 hasn’t been announced, SummerSlam 2026 will feature two-night format, and WWE has also revealed that Indianapolis will host a two-night SummerSlam in the future.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that while it hasn’t been officially announced, there’s a strong possibility that the 2025 SummerSlam event will span two days.
When asked at a SummerSlam event, Paul Levesque mentioned that he believed 2024 would be the last year for a single-night SummerSlam. Meltzer initially thought Levesque might have been mistaken, especially since the 2026 event is scheduled for Minneapolis. However, after inquiring further, Meltzer was unofficially informed that a two-day format for the 2025 SummerSlam is likely.
“Probably. It’s not been announced. Someone asked Levesque that at the SummerSlam thing and he said he though this was the last year that this was the last year for the one night SummerSlam and I thought maybe he made a mistake because 2026 is Minneapolis. I started asking around and officially no one is going to tell me because they haven’t announced it but I was told unofficially that probably 2025 SummerSlam will be two days.”
WWE is constantly focused on future growth, with its plans for global expansion becoming more ambitious each year. However, whether next year’s SummerSlam will become a two-night event remains to be seen.
