The Young Bucks signed new contracts with AEW last year along with Kenny Omega, which came with certain benefits. Now, as AEW EVPs and Tag Team Champions, they have a reduced schedule in addition to their substantial contracts with Tony Khan.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the Young Bucks’ two-week absence was planned in advance. They were scheduled to take time off to sell the Blood & Guts injuries, although it was suggested that this could have been better incorporated into the storyline with a more intense conclusion to that match. However, the match didn’t include a major injury angle, and the show didn’t emphasize any injuries resulting from it.

They missed only two Wednesdays, along with Okada, and their names were mentioned in a storyline involving the suspension of Britt Baker. It’s noted that the Young Bucks had planned family vacations well in advance, intending to take two weeks off after Blood & Guts. Their new contract includes fewer dates than the previous one, ensuring they don’t use up too many appearances. This time off was agreed upon months ago.

The report also mentioned that, due to the number of dates left, The Young Bucks won’t appear on every Wednesday show through December but will be around for most weeks. It was noted that they’ve worked most Wednesdays this year, so it’s not like they signed a part-time or “Brock Lesnar-type deal.” The amount of television time they receive will be something to watch.

The Young Bucks retained their AEW World Tag Team Titles during this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, winning by disqualification with help from FTR, who attacked The Acclaimed. While the tag team champions are enjoying a lighter schedule, it’s not the lightest part-time schedule in pro wrestling.
