Vince Russo Claims Triple H Tried to Keep Him Away from WWE

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H has many friends in the wrestling business but has also had a contentious relationship with some former superstars and employees. Recently, Vince Russo claimed that Triple H tried to keep him away from WWE.

If you were not aware, Vince Russo worked with WWE for several years. Russo became the company’s head writer in 1997 before leaving two years later. He briefly returned in 2002 for only two weeks before departing again.

While speaking on his podcast, The Brand, Vince Russo claimed that Triple H tried to keep him from returning to WWE during his second stint. According to Russo, Triple H wanted to have creative control for himself and Stephanie McMahon and was upset when Vince McMahon rehired Russo without their knowledge.

“I got no heat, bro. I got no animosity whatsoever with Trips. Yes, bro, Trips, you know, tried to keep me away from WWE in 2002 because he wanted him and Stephanie to have all the creative power when Vince McMahon kinda hired me behind their back, which was wrong for Vince to do. And Triple H made it clear, bro, he did not want me there. They wanted the power.”

Russo stated that although Triple H was opposed to his presence in the company, he holds no personal grudge against him. He acknowledged that professional wrestling is often driven by power and ego, and he understands the motivations behind Triple H’s actions.

“And you know what, bro? I totally get that. That’s what freaking professional wrestling is all about, bro. It’s all about power. It’s all about ego. It’s all about being on top. I get it. I got no heat with the guy whatsoever, bro. I understand. I don’t got a problem with any of it.”

It is highly unlikely Vince Russo will ever work in WWE again and fans feel that’s for the best. In the meantime, WWE continues to make its mark in the pro wrestling industry and that’s all that matters to them.
