AEW has seen a lot of growth over the past five years and the company has a longstanding relationship with Warner Bros Discovery, which is why their shows air on TBS and TNT. With that said, Tony Khan has now addressed Charles Barkley possibly working in AEW.
Earlier this year, the Young Bucks presented a special gift to the Inside The NBA crew, including Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, Ernie Johnson, Draymond Green, and Charles Barkley. They were given custom AEW World Titles and shoe belts.
While speaking to the DanLeBatard Show, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about Charles Barkley possibly making his way to AEW programming in the future. Tony Khan mentioned that Barkley is a huge wrestling fan and was great and gracious when the Inside the NBA team was presented with AEW championship belts. He noted that Shaq, another Inside the NBA host, has been one of the greatest people he has ever worked with.
Khan acknowledged Barkley’s contributions to AEW and expressed his belief that Barkley, being a top sports host and one of the most entertaining personalities on television, would add value to any sport. If Barkley wanted to join AEW, Khan would fully encourage and support it.
“Charles Barkley is a wrestling fan. Yeah, huge. We presented the Inside the NBA team with AEW championship belts, and he was great and very gracious. We’ve worked with Shaq, and Shaq is one of the greatest human beings I’ve ever met or worked with in my entire life. I know that Barkley has been great to AEW. I don’t know exactly what the future of the NBA holds, but, you know, Charles Barkley, as far as being one of the top hosts in all of sports, as far as being one of the most entertaining people on all of television, I think he adds to any sport he’s involved in. So if he wanted to come to AEW, we would love that, and absolutely, I would encourage that and support that.”
We will have to wait and see whether Charles Barkley will end up working with AEW somewhere down the line in any capacity, as fans might love to see Barkey in AEW as well.
