WWE needs to keep momentum going, and the WWE Tag Team Champions need new #1 contenders. The Bloodline remains strong champions, though they have kept quiet about Jacob Fatu’s injury status. Now we know who will challenge The Bloodline for their titles next.

During the August 16 episode of SmackDown at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, a high-stakes match took place to determine the next challengers for the WWE Tag Team Championships. #DIY faced The Street Profits in a #1 Contender’s Match. The winning team earned the right to challenge for the tag team titles, setting up a showdown between two of WWE’s most dynamic teams.

The match got underway quickly, continuing through a commercial break. The Street Profits took control just before the break, with the Orlando crowd cheering both teams. By the time the break ended, Team DIY had regained control.

The match remained evenly contested, with the Street Profits tagging in and out to keep a fresh man in the ring. They executed a double team move on Ciampa for a near fall before Dawkins attempted a swanton, only to crash and miss.

The Bloodline will defend the titles under the Freebird Rule, which is fitting given Michael PS Hayes’ role in crafting this epic pro wrestling storyline.

Finally, Gargano and Ford hit simultaneous dives, leading to a battle in the center of the ring. As Montez kicked out after a near fall, they cut to another commercial break.

The match continued with Dawkins breaking up a pin after DIY’s Shatter Machine on Montez Ford. Ciampa then took a double team elevated neckbreaker from the Street Profits, but Gargano broke up the pin.

B-Fab cheered on the Street Profits as fans in Orlando chanted “This is awesome!” Dawkins kicked out of a superkick and Fairy Tale Ending, stunning the crowd. Finally, The Street Profits hit a super blockbuster to secure the win. Now, they will face The Bloodline next, with that match set for next Friday in Washington, DC.
