Randy Orton commands respect from fans and peers alike, but he is clearly far different from the person he once was. In fact, Orton recalls being chased by police after blowing up Dynamite.

Orton was seen as a very problematic person backstage in WWE during his early days. The Viper would eventually become a better person after meeting his wife Kim, and he even gave her some credit for that change.

While speaking during a recent episode of Cody Rhodes’ “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast, Randy Orton recounted a tense experience he had in Tijuana with fellow wrestlers Paul London and Brian Kendrick. During a WWE tour, Orton admitted to setting off quarter sticks of dynamite, which he had purchased locally.

“Federales were after me, Paul London, and Brian Kendrick, and we jumped in a taxi. Oh my God… They were quarter sticks of dynamite, and you could buy it there in Tijuana. I ditched the last stick under the bus that was taking us to the venue the next day.”

As a result, the Mexican police pursued the trio. Orton described how they quickly jumped into a taxi to evade capture, while the federales continued to follow them. He shared that Paul London, who spoke some Spanish, communicated with the taxi driver to find a safe destination. Despite the stressful situation, Orton reflects on it now with a sense of relief that they managed to get away without further incident.

“We jumped in the taxi, and we were followed the entire time by the Federales. Paul London spoke a little bit of Spanish, and he was like, ‘Guys, guys, the cops are following us.’ He talked to the driver, and he’s saying, “Take them here.” I was dying. Looking back now, he could really have been ripping the hell out of me. But we ended up making it back.”

The days of Randy Orton doing outrageous things are in the past as he has mellowed out and prefers being with his family. Regardless, Orton is currently more focused on his Bash in Berlin match against GUNTHER, so we’ll have to see how that will turn out.
