AEW has seen several departures recently, with Mark Henry being one of the latest to become a free agent as his deal came to an end. Despite no longer being with AEW, Henry still wishes everyone in the company well.

The differences between WWE and AEW are evident, especially from an outsider’s perspective. Mark Henry, having spent time in both companies, has a more nuanced understanding.

In an interview with MadMacDavis, Henry was asked about the differences between the WWE and AEW locker rooms. He expressed his hopes for AEW’s success but also acknowledged a competitive atmosphere in the AEW locker room.

“In some capacity, the newer companies have people that don’t want to be overshadowed by people that came in and that’s just backwards thinking. Hopefully, they’ll get that rectified, but that starts at the top. If they don’t get it together, I feel like they’re not going to do as good as they can.

“I wish them well. I don’t want them to go away because it will hurt the boys. I want the boys to have leverage, so I pray for AEW’s success for the simple fact that I want all these guys to realize that we’re all working for each other and the companies are just who pays us. Your loyalty should be to the person that life is in your hand, so every step I take in the ring, that’s who I work for. I work for the guy. That mentality needs to come back.”

Mark Henry continues his work with Busted Open Radio, where he shares his opinions. He has always been known for speaking his mind, regardless of who he is aligned with at any given time.

We will have to see what happens in the future with AEW. The company is going through an interesting portion of their history right now. They may get even more additions to their locker room, but they aren’t pulling in Mark Henry’s son.

Mark Henry’s son, Jacob Henry, recently signed an NIL deal with WWE, announced during the Remix Rumble event. While Jacob won’t be reporting to WWE immediately, he will be under contract while wrestling for the University of Oklahoma. The World’s Strongest Man is clearly proud of his son’s next steps.

What’s your take on Mark Henry’s time in AEW? Do you think the company could have utilized him better? Would you like to see him return to WWE? Will Jacob Henry live up to his father’s legacy? Share your thoughts in the comments section!
