The pro wrestling world has many different personalities, and David Finlay has been making his presence known in NJPW for quite some time. He has also stated interest in joining WWE. The son of Fit Finlay recently directed some criticism at AEW, as he is known for speaking his mind.

IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion David Finlay recently made comments about AEW, saying it’s the place where he sends wrestlers who aren’t as good as him. During the NJPW G1 Climax 354, Finlay defeated AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita in tournament action.

In an interview with Tokyo Sports, Finlay discussed the upcoming Wrestle Dynasty event, which will include AEW talent. He stated that no one in AEW could beat him and mentioned that he would be open to facing Tony Khan in a cage match, with the stipulation that if he wins, he would get Khan’s bank account number.

“I don’t think there’s a wrestler who can beat me in AEW, and if there’s someone who wants to try, I’m willing to challenge him, but there are only guys below me in that organization. I can think positively about a cage match with [president and billionaire] Tony Khan. If I win, I’ll get his bank account number.”

We will have to see if Tony Khan accepts this challenge. It’s not likely, but he’s also trying hard to get a ratings boost right now.

David Finlay went on to say that AEW is full of second-tier fighters. He acknowledged that many wrestlers had gone there for the money, but he emphasized that this didn’t concern him. Finlay expressed his passion for fighting, stating that NJPW is the best place for that.

“AEW is a group of second-tier fighters. All the guys who have gone there are just trying to make money because it’s getting tough to fight here. They’re just going to make money. My whole family is full of professional wrestlers, so I could have chosen to fight for the organization of my choice from the beginning. What I like most is fighting strong guys and winning. I’ve never worried about money, and I don’t care. The New Japan ring is the place where I can fight strong guys. The Global Champion will grab the top spot.”

AEW has many skilled wrestlers on its roster. Whether David Finlay will accept an open challenge from an AEW star remains to be seen, but his words could certainly prompt someone to step through the Forbidden Door to challenge his claims.

It will be interesting to see if this leads to a match or if David Finlay was simply expressing his thoughts. AEW has a large fanbase that may disagree with his assessment of the All Elite roster.

What do you think of David Finlay’s statement? Do you believe someone in the AEW locker room could beat him? Share your thoughts in the comments section!
