Although Hulk Hogan hasn’t wrestled since 2012, the WWE Hall of Famer still imagines what it would be like to step into the ring with some of today’s top stars.
During a recent interview with Bill Apter, Hogan revealed a trio of WWE Superstars he’d love to face if he were physically able to wrestle again.
“If Roman Reigns was a babyface, … I’d love to work with Roman,” Hogan said. “And my other two guys would be Seth [Rollins] and CM Punk. I think we’d do some crazy business.”
Hogan also mentioned that he’d want to face all three of these men as his “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan persona, meaning he would take on the role of the heel in the storyline. With Roman Reigns recently returning as a babyface at WWE SummerSlam, the scenario Hogan envisions could potentially align with current WWE dynamics. However, at 71 years old, it’s highly unlikely that Hogan will return to the ring for another match.
Interestingly, Hogan didn’t mention Cody Rhodes, who is arguably the top guy in WWE at the moment. Despite this omission, there doesn’t appear to be any animosity between the two. In fact, Hogan has recently praised Rhodes, stating that he has the ability to “raise the bar” for the entire company.
Hogan has been back in the headlines lately, not just for wrestling but also for his speech at the Republican National Convention and plans for a new film focused on his lawsuit against Gawker. The movie, potentially directed by Gus Van Sant, will explore the legal battle that ultimately led to the website’s shutdown.
While fans may never see Hogan square off against today’s WWE stars, his influence on the industry continues to be felt, and his dream matches remain a fascinating “what if” for wrestling fans.
