WWE and UFC are both part of the TKO company, which is why their stars often pay attention to each other. UFC fighter Belal Muhammad has shown interest in teaming up with CM Punk, showing the connection between the two organizations.

Coming out of WWE SummerSlam, after his match with Drew McIntyre, CM Punk made an appearance on the following episode of Monday Night Raw. During his segment, he took a moment to acknowledge his friend, Belal Muhammad, the newly crowned UFC Welterweight Champion. Muhammad appreciated Punk’s recognition and reacted on social media as well.

While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Muhammad shared that he was supposed to attend SummerSlam but opted to go to Abu Dhabi for a UFC fight. He expressed his admiration for Punk and his desire to team up with him.

Muhammad, who trained with Punk at Roufusport Milwaukee, described Punk as a genuine and supportive friend from Chicago, always encouraging him. He fondly recalled their training sessions and noted how exciting it was to see Punk give him a shoutout on Raw. Muhammad, a longtime fan of Raw and Punk, made it clear he wants to team with Punk.

”That’s my brother (Muhammad said about CM Punk). We used to train together in Roufusport Milwaukee. He’s a good friend, he’s from Chicago, and any time we’re together, we’ll hit the stairs together or something and get a good workout in. He’s truly a genuine, good person. Seeing him give me that shoutout on Raw, that was epic. He’s always wanted to see me succeed. I used to love Raw and I loved watching Punk. Then I got to know him, and he’s such a down-to-earth, good dude. He’s a friend and a brother.

I want to be a tag team with Punk. I was supposed to go to SummerSlam, but I went to Abu Dhabi for the UFC fight. I knew Punk was making his comeback and I wanted to see it, and then I saw Jelly Roll in the ring, and I was thinking, hey, that could have been me!”

CM Punk had a brief stint in the UFC and trained primarily under Duke Roufus at his Milwaukee gym. This is the same gym where Muhammad trained as he advanced through the UFC welterweight division. Regardless, Muhammad appreciates CM Punk and that’s all that matters to him.
