The Young Bucks are the current AEW Tag Team Champions and remain as controversial as ever. In fact, the Acclaimed accused them of gatekeeping AEW’s tag team division after Dynamite this week.

On the August 14th episode of AEW Dynamite, The Acclaimed, consisting of Anthony Bowens and Max Caster, challenged The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The Young Bucks managed to retain their titles thanks to interference from FTR. As a result, The Acclaimed will face FTR in a Number One Contender’s Match on the August 17th episode of AEW Collision, which will determine who will challenge for the titles at AEW All In.

In a digital exclusive, The Acclaimed shared their thoughts on the recent events. Billy Gunn commented that the interference had ignited a new determination in Bowens and Caster. He explained that while the Young Bucks thought his presence might be a problem for them, it was actually their interference that fueled The Acclaimed’s resolve. Gunn emphasized that Bowens and Caster were no longer just the fun-loving “scissor guys” but were now ready to take on their opponents with intense focus.

“So Elite, I don’t know how you did it. You see, you got me ejected because you thought that I was going to be the one that got you beat. But unfortunately, it’s not. I don’t know if you’ve been watching my boys for the last two weeks, but you lit a fire under their asses, and they’re not fun-loving scissor guys anymore. They’re straight-up ass-whipping boys.”

Caster added that both The Young Bucks and FTR seemed intent on maintaining their positions at the top of the tag team division, but The Acclaimed were determined to challenge that status. He pointed out that while The Young Bucks had played a major role in starting the company and FTR had achieved a lot, The Acclaimed had used the platform provided by these teams to accomplish even greater things. Caster promised that FTR would face a different version of The Acclaimed, not just the “scissor guys,” but the team that was ready to make a significant impact.

“Young Bucks, you got a taste of what it was like today. You couldn’t beat us on your own. You needed your boys, FTR, the two teams at the top of the tag team division, trying to keep their two spots safe, sacred from guys like us. Hey, FTR, you might have accomplished a lot. Young Bucks, you might have started this company. All In was your creation. But because of your creation, because of everything you guys have done, you gave us a platform, and we’ve done things bigger than you guys could ever dream of. So understood, y’all are jealous. You want to keep us out. Gatekeeping, they call it. Gatekeeping the tag team division? No more. Saturday on Collision, FTR, you guys meet the people’s choice. You guys don’t meet the scissor guys. You guys meet The Acclaimed, Max and Anthony, and that’s a mic drop.”

We will have to wait and see whether The Acclaimed will be able to get another shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships and defeat The Young Bucks at AEW All In, as fans feel it’s time The Young Bucks drop the titles.
