Bryan Danielson is undoubtedly one of the premier professional wrestlers worldwide, having competed at the highest echelons for many years. Being a top wrestler, he has actually lost quite a few matches in AEW and now the reason for his losses has been revealed.

Bryan Danielson has been grappling with neck injuries in recent months. In May, he revealed that doctors advised him he would soon need surgery, and by June, he stated that his neck was still not in good shape. Despite this, Danielson is scheduled to challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at AEW All In.

Prior to his program with Strickland, Danielson has seen quite a few losses during his time in AEW. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Bryan Danielson’s constant losses in AEW.

Meltzer stated that Bryan Danielson has lost many matches in AEW because he wanted to put others over and do what he believed was best for the business. One of the reasons he joined AEW was to help strengthen the company, though it wasn’t his only motivation. In real life, Bryan Danielson doesn’t need to win a championship. However, in storyline terms, it is important for his character.

”One of the reasons he lost as much as he has is just wanted to put people over. He wanted to do things what he perceived that were good for the business. One of the reasons he came to AEW was for the good of the business to help AEW out as a whole was a strong AEW. It’s not the main reason but it was a reason. The real life Bryan Danielson does not have to win a championship. The storyline Bryan Danielson, yes.”

Bryan Danielson put his career on the line against Swerve Strickland at All In, so we will have to wait and see if The American Dragon will end up losing to Strickland or whether he will finally become a champion in AEW.
