The 16-time World Champion, John Cena has announced his retirement from WWE after a storied career that has spanned over two decades. Cena made this shocking revelation during the WWE Money in the Bank Premium Live Event, leaving fans across the world both surprised and emotional.
To mark this monumental occasion, Cena has planned an extensive retirement tour throughout 2025. This tour will offer fans numerous opportunities to see him perform one last time. Cena stated that he has committed the entire 2025 calendar year to WWE for this farewell tour with a number of dates also revealed.
Furthermore, fans have been speculating the matches we could see on the John Cena retirement tour. One of them that they hope to see is Cena battling one of his greatest rivals, Randy Orton and now Orton has spoken about the same.
In a recent interview with Cody Rhodes on his show, ‘What Do You Wanna Talk About’, Orton expressed his desire to battle John Cena at one of the dates of his retirement tour. Randy stated that he would like to build a compelling storyline with adequate TV time, considering their history and nostalgic factor involved.
“I would love to work with the man, with a little bit of TV or more to set it up to make something special of it, because no matter how much we faced each other back in the day, almost to the point of getting sick of it, people look back and think of it ‘oh Orton Cena wow this rivalry is amazing’, to have that call back, the nostalgia factor, they would appreciate it.”
Moreover, Orton also mentioned that his program with Cena would have to happen organically and believed that it will happen in 2025.
“I think Orton and Cena, if it organically happens, it happens and I think it will happen.”
The retirement tour is not just a farewell but a celebration of John Cena’s legacy, ensuring that his contributions to WWE are honored and remembered. As Cena prepares to close this chapter of his life, it can be expected that Randy Orton would indeed get one last dance with his iconic rival, The Greatest of All Time, John Cena.
