Former WWE Champion Big E has been on hiatus from in-ring action due to a severe neck injury. With that said, Big E has now provided a timeline for potentially getting cleared for an in-ring return.

Big E has been sidelined since the March 11, 2022 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where he sustained broken neck. During his absence from the ring, Big E has remained active, making numerous appearances on various shows.

Big E provided an update on his recovery and potential return to wrestling during an interview with Carlo Perruzza. He shared that his neck is not ossifying into new bone yet, but he retains mobility and is pain-free. If cleared, he hopes to return to the ring within the next year or so. Currently, he’s involved with Premium Live Event pre-show and post-show panels and will be part of the WWE Bash in Berlin in Germany.

He expressed uncertainty about his wrestling future, stating that his neck is healing fibrously but not yet strong enough for the physical demands of wrestling. At 38, he acknowledges the race against time for a potential return. Despite this, E is grateful for his life and opportunities outside the ring. He mentioned a recent trip to Cancun for stem cell treatment at RejuvStem and spoke highly of the experience.

”We’ll see (if I could ever wrestle again). Right now, my neck is just not ossifying. It’s not turning into new bone quite yet. It is kind of healing fibrously. So it’s all connected and it’s no fear that if I were pushed too hard or if I were bumped, anything would happen. None of that. But I’m not really in a position right now to be cleared, medically, because of the nature of what we do is very physical and taking bumps requires you to have a rock-solid neck. So, we’ll see what the future holds. Mind you, there’s kind of a race against the clock. I’m 38. I’m no spring chicken anymore so, if I were to be cleared, hopefully it would happen within the next year or so. But more than anything, I’m focusing on what I do have in life and I have a great life, I have a lot of things I’m able to do right now. I went down to Cancun a couple of months ago for stem cells and we’ll see how that goes. Went to a great spot called RejuvStem in Cancun. They also have an office I believe in Guadalajara and they’re looking to expand. They were great to me, and yeah, I’m really having a great time on these Countdown shows. We’re doing pre-shows and post-shows for all the PLEs. I’m headed to Berlin very soon but, it’s been fun. I’ve really enjoyed this new role, this current role and if an opportunity in the ring opens up, then we’ll address that but, for right now, my focus is on the broadcasting side of things.”

Big E even stated that he feels great after the stem cell treatment. Therefore, only time will tell if Big E will ever return to the ring, as many fans still have hope and it’s not hard to see why.
