WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix was a trailblazer in women’s wrestling, rising to prominence during an era when female wrestlers often lacked the spotlight. Reports suggested that she was no longer part of WWE and now Phoenix has confirmed that to be true.
Phoenix was largely inactive as a competitor for a significant period. Her most recent match took place at Elimination Chamber 2023, where she and her husband Adam Copeland defeated Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley.
As reported earlier, Beth Phoenix had parted ways with WWE as her contract had expired, and she was neither re-signed nor offered a Legends deal, but fans wanted to see if Phoenix would have anything to say about the reports.
While speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Beth Phoenix stated that she is no longer under contract with WWE and is currently a free agent. Phoenix shared that other opportunities have come her way, leading her to consider exploring new ventures. She also discussed the possibility of opening a wrestling school with her husband, Adam Copeland.
Phoenix expressed that while she is not contracted with WWE, she maintains a strong relationship with the company. She cherishes her time there and still has a deep appreciation for WWE and its products, especially NXT. She enjoys watching young talent develop and grow in the industry.
The Glamazon also mentioned that she and her husband have extensive television experience and are considering teaching wrestling techniques and storytelling through a potential wrestling school. Phoenix believes they have valuable insights into the business, including camera work, promos, and creating compelling stories that engage audiences.
”I am not (under contract to WWE). I am currently a free agent. I have a great relationship with WWE. I treasured my time there. I feel like there’s more, there’s other opportunities that have presented themselves. I feel the motivation right now to kind of explore and explore what else is out there and explore myself but my relationship with WWE hasn’t changed. I have so many friends there and I appreciate and I enjoy the product as I always have and I love NXT, I have a special place in my heart for NXT of course and just the system and seeing young people come up and go through that excitement of developing themselves for the big time. I love WWE, I always will.
(I’m talking) everything else and wrestling opportunities in there too. I haven’t closed the door on the thought of offering maybe a wrestling school or offering — myself and my husband have so many years of television experience and you know, we can teach top wrist locks and stuff but, there’s a difference in teaching working for cameras and promos and even just creating a story that’s compelling and leaves people talking about it and wanting to come back for more. The storytelling nuances of the business, I feel like we have a lot to share and teach.”
With Copeland now part of AEW, speculation has arisen about whether Phoenix might make an appearance in the promotion, so it remains to be seen whether Beth Phoenix will make her way to AEW somewhere down the line.
