WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, renowned for her groundbreaking contributions to women’s wrestling, recently parted ways with WWE. She has now addressed the possibility of returning to in-ring competition.

Beth Phoenix is a multiple-time women’s champion and dominated the competition during the peak of her career, but she had been mostly inactive in the ring for an extended period. Her last match was at Elimination Chamber 2023, where she and her husband, Adam Copeland, picked up the win against Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley.

Beth Phoenix recently ended her tenure with WWE after her contract came to an end, and she was not offered a new deal or a legends contract. With her departure from WWE, there is now speculation about whether she might debut in AEW, as she remains a strong candidate for a return to in-ring action if she decides to pursue it.

While speaking to Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Beth Phoenix was asked about making an in-ring return. Phoenix noted that she is not sure if she’ll wrestle again, as it depends on the opportunities and what’s best for her family.

Phoenix explained that it’s hard to say for sure if she’s retired. She had retired in 2012 to focus on having a family because she knew she couldn’t balance wrestling and raising kids. She mentioned that she might come out of retirement if the right opportunity comes along and if it works well for her family. She and her husband, Adam Copeland, discuss every opportunity carefully to see how it affects their family, including their children and marriage. They made a similar decision when Copeland was offered a role in Percy Jackson while he was with WWE, deciding as a family that it was a big chance he should take.

”Yeah, I don’t know (if I could have another match). It’s really hard to say you’re retired, which when I left in 2012, that was the word I threw around a lot. ‘I’m retired, I’m retired,’ because I wanted to have a family and I knew for myself that wasn’t going to be in congruence to perform and to have kids. I needed to devote myself to the kids at that time. I give the age-old cliché answer that everybody hates is like, never say never. But, it really just depends on the opportunities and what suits our family. That’s really it. We weigh out everything. That’s for Adam’s opportunities too and I remember when Percy Jackson came on the table and he was full-time in WWE and it was really, really hard to take that on but we weighed out everything. We sat as a family and we made that decision and we were like, ‘This is huge. This is just like the biggest acting opportunity that’s come our way and you need to go do this. This is massive,’ and we talked about saying no to that and we talk about everything that comes our way as a family and does that serve us now. How does that affect the kids? How does it affect our marriage? That matters too.”

Phoenix also confirmed she is no longer part of WWE as well. Britt Baker made it clear that she wants to see Beth Phoenix in AEW as well. Nonetheless, only time will tell whether the WWE Hall of Famer will compete inside the squared circle once again, as fans would love to see that happen.
