AEW has plenty to finalize before All In on August 25, and this week’s episode featured several noteworthy matches. Among them, the AEW World Tag Team Titles were defended during the two-hour broadcast on TBS.
The Young Bucks faced off against The Acclaimed on the August 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, with the tag team titles on the line. Fans eagerly anticipated the match, as Nick and Matt Jackson have firmly established themselves as classic heels, and their clash with the fan-favorite team of Anthony Bowens and Max Caster brought extra heat to the encounter.
The Acclaimed wasted no time, ambushing the Young Bucks during their entrance to gain an early advantage. As a result, fans didn’t get a signature rap from Max Caster, as the action immediately spilled outside the ring. This surprise attack allowed the challengers to take control early, but the Young Bucks quickly regained momentum with a pair of dropkicks through the ropes followed by splashes to the outside.
The intense action continued through a commercial break, with both teams brawling in picture-in-picture mode as TBS ran ads. During this time, the Young Bucks taunted the crowd and slowed the pace of the match, embracing their heel personas.
At one point, Billy Gunn was ejected from ringside after being caught with a chair in his hands, although the situation was entirely orchestrated by the Young Bucks. Despite this, Matt Jackson continued to dominate Caster in the ring until a miscommunication led Nick to accidentally kick Matt, giving Caster the opening he needed to tag in Bowens.
Suddenly, FTR stormed the ring and attacked the Young Bucks, resulting in a disqualification. The outcome didn’t sit well with the fans—or The Acclaimed—leading to security rushing in to separate the teams. In the end, The Young Bucks were declared the winners, much to the dismay of the audience.
