AEW has signed quite a few talent in the pro wrestling world, while other contracts are set to expire. Tony Khan ended up signing top indie prospect Tommy Billington and it appears WWE reached out to Billington the day after AEW offered him a contract.

Tommy Billington, the nephew of the legendary Dynamite Kid from the 1980s, made his AEW debut in May against Dax Harwood on Collision. He also competed against Konosuke Takeshita but did not secure a victory. It was reported that Tommy Billington signed with AEW.

While speaking on his Instagram Live, Dax Harwood talked about Tommy Bellington’s experience after his AEW match in Canada. After Bellington’s impressive performance, AEW offered him a contract on the spot. The following day, WWE reached out to someone close to Bellington to gauge his interest in joining their company.

Bellington had previously shared his financial struggles with Harwood, who assured him that he would secure a job for him after the match. Despite WWE’s interest, Bellington chose to sign with AEW, influenced by the immediate offer and support from the promotion.

”He told me about his financial woes. He told me that night and I said, ‘After tonight, we’re gonna get you a job.’ He had the match, obviously he showed out. He was offered a contract on the spot right there. He didn’t accept just yet. The very next day, WWE also reached out to someone close to Tommy and asked about getting him there. I don’t wanna say a bidding war, but there was some power play, and Tom decided he wanted to go to AEW.”

We will have to wait and see how AEW will book Tommy Billington now that he has signed a deal with the company. After all, his impressive in-ring skills will likely take him far in the company.
