At the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank event in Toronto, John Cena announced his retirement from professional wrestling. While his farewell tour is scheduled to start next year, Cena has already clarified what his role will be in WWE after his retirement.

In his announcement, John Cena revealed that he will be involved in transitioning WWE RAW to Netflix. He also shared that his final wrestling appearances will be at the Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 2025. Rather than having a single retirement match, Cena will undertake a farewell tour in 2025, covering multiple dates. His in-ring career is set to end in December 2025.

John Cena, while still in excellent shape and making occasional appearances for WWE, is firm about his retirement plans. He recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and stated that he is completely done with wrestling after his final match in December 2025. Cena acknowledged that retirements in wrestling can sometimes be reversed, but he emphasized that he is committed to ending his in-ring career at that time.

“I know sometimes retirement in wrestling are liquid. They happen, and they renege on that. I am 100% done. December 2025 is the last time I will perform in a ring.”

Cena also shared his plans to remain involved with WWE as a Brand Ambassador. He expressed that although he will no longer perform physically, he is content with closing that chapter of his career. He looks forward to his final match in 2025 with a positive outlook, viewing it as a fun and fulfilling conclusion rather than a sad farewell.

“I’ll still be part of the WWE family as an Ambassador, but the time has come to close the physical performing chapter of my life, and I’m at peace with it, which is why 2025 is going to be awesome. It’s going to be fun. It’s not going to be sad, but that’s it.”

We have also reported that WWE is already considering opponents for John Cena and he also wants to compete in the UK next year. It remains to be seen how Cena’s retirement tour will turn out, as fans might not be mentally prepared to see Cena retire next year.
