John Cena transcended the world of professional wrestling to become a global celebrity. Throughout his journey, he has inspired many, including R-Truth, who considers the 16-time World Champion his childhood hero. AEW star QT Marshall has also drawn personal inspiration from Cena.

QT Marshall recently recalled some advice he received from John Cena, which is especially timely as Cena prepares for his final run in WWE. This run will include around 36 appearances, featuring all the biggest events of 2025. Once he wrestles his final match, Cena will officially hang up his boots for good.

In March 2023, John Cena visited Cody Rhodes and QT Marshall’s wrestling school, the Nightmare Factory. During his visit, Cena spoke to the students, offering them valuable advice.

QT Marshall took the opportunity to absorb some of Cena’s wisdom as well. During a recent interview on the K100 podcast, Marshall recounted Cena’s words of advice: simply ask your boss what they want from you.

“John Cena was at the school because of Cody, and he was talking to the kids. We went into the office, and he was discussing some things with Cody. He asked me, ‘I know you work for the other company, but is there anything I can answer for you?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’m a VP, but of course, I want to wrestle.’ He told me, ‘Just ask your boss what he wants. If you give him what he wants, there’s nothing to worry about. You’re doing what he asked you to do. If there’s something you feel strongly about, that you don’t want to do, or if you have another idea, then do it. Just know that you’re on the hook. If it doesn’t work, you’re on the hook.’ It really makes sense. I know when I want something from my wife, I have to give her what she wants first. Life isn’t that hard.”

John Cena’s Hollywood career shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, he’s taking on even bigger roles with enormous budgets, as his name continues to attract fans from all over. He has certainly shattered the mold of what a professional wrestler can achieve, and many are now following the path he blazed.

Although we don’t yet know who will face John Cena during his retirement tour, there are plenty of contenders. It will be fascinating to see who he faces in his final match. The discussion about who will induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame is also starting to heat up, as Cena is an undeniable Hall of Famer and has been for years.

How do you think John Cena’s advice to QT Marshall reflects his approach to both wrestling and life? And who do you believe should be Cena’s final opponent during his retirement tour? Share your thoughts and ideas in the comments!
