It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means! AEW Dynamite will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the August 14, 2024 episode.

AEW Dynamite Results (8/14/2024):

The show opens up with Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone welcoming us. We then get the entrances of the first match of the night, which is an AEW TBS Championship Match.

AEW TBS Championship Match: NJPW Strong Women’s Champion “The CEO” Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Hikaru Shida

The match starts off with Moné shoving Shida and both women locking up before Moné sends Shida crashing into the mat with a hair whip. Shida then responds with a shoulder tackle and looks to hit a knee on Moné in the corner, but Moné avoids it and locks in a crossface on Shida. Shida then counters into a pinfall, but Moné kicks out. Moné and Shida then look to hit each other with dropkicks, but they both avoid them. Moné then hits a boot on Shida’s midsection and nails her with a forearm, but Shida responds with a hurricanrana and delivers some right hands on Moné in the corner. Shida then hits a suplex on Moné, then looks to follow it up with a running knee. Moné sees her coming and both women take turns in pinning each other. Moné then looks to send Shida crashing into the top turnbuckle face first, but Shida stops her momentum and instead sends Moné crashing into it.

Moné then pins Shida, but the referee catches her feet on the ropes. Shida then hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Moné and drapes her across the apron, then looks to hit a running knee. Kamille then inserts herself between Moné and Shida, opening the door for Moné to hit a meteora on Shida off the apron and sends her back inside the ring. Moné then goes for a pin, but Shida kicks out. Moné then hits a second meteora inside the ring and pins Shida, but Shida kicks out once again. Moné then hits a kick on Shida’s head from the apron, then goes for a pin but Shida kicks out. Moné then delivers some forearms on Shida in the corner, then looks to sends her into the opposite corner. Shida blocks Moné, then hits her with a dropkick off the middle rope and deliver some right hands on her. Shida then hits Moné with a jumping knee and goes for a pin, but Moné kicks out and Shida looks for a Falcon Arrow. Moné then escapes and hits a backstabber, then looks to hit another meteora. Shida sees Moné coming and places her on the top rope, but Moné fights Shida off and hits her with a meteora off the middle rope. Moné then goes for a pin, but Shida kicks out. Moné then hits The Three Amigos on Shida, but Shida blocks the third suplex and hits a Falcon Arrow. Shida then goes for a pin, but Moné kicks out. Shida then goes for the Katana, but Kamille pulls Moné out of the ring before Shida can hit it. Shida then hits a dropkick on Kamille, then hits her with a kendo stick. Moné then grabs the kendo stick from Shida and while the referee gets Moné to dispose of it, Kamille hits a big boot on Shida. When Shida gets back in the ring, Moné is waiting for her and she hits Shida with a Moné Maker for the win.

After the match, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.’s music hits, but she is nowhere to be found. Kamille waits on the ramp as Moné grabs Shida’s kendo stick. Kamille then spots a masked person in the crowd and beats them down as Baker emerges from the crowd and sneaks up on Moné. Baker then puts on her glove and Moné looks to hit her with the kendo stick. Baker then intercepts Moné with a boot, then looks to cinch in the Lockjaw on Moné. Kamille then saves Moné and Baker grabs the kendo stick. Kamille then looks to get in Baker’s face, but backs down when Baker looks to use the kendo stick on her. Baker then spots the TBS Championship and holds it up as an enraged Moné begins yelling.

We then get video footage from after last week’s Dynamite of “Hangman” Adam Page attacking Jeff Jarrett backstage, which was followed by security pulling Page and Jay Lethal apart.

We then head to the back and see Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, Karen Jarrett and Sonjay Dutt standing by with Renee Paquette. “Hangman” Adam Page then attacks Lethal and brawls with him to the ringside area. The next match of the night then begins.

Singles Match: “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Jay Lethal

The match starts off with Lethal hitting five tope suicidas on Page on the outside. Page then hits a Dead Eye on Lethal on the apron, then sends him crashing into the barricade. Page then sends Lethal over the barricade near the timekeeper’s area and onto the table. Page then delivers a strike on Lethal, but Lethal rolls him up. Page then kicks out and sends Lethal crashing into the mat, then follows it up with a chop and a right hand on him in the corner. Page then places Lethal on the top rope, but Lethal responds with some right hands on Page and follows it up with an uppercut. Page then hits a Death Valley Driver on Lethal and goes for a pin, but Lethal kicks out. Lethal then does a series of pins on Page, but Page kicks out of all of them. Lethal then hits the Lethal Combination on Page and goes for another pin, but Page once again kicks out. Page then locks in a crossface on Lethal, but Lethal counters it into a pinfall to escape. Page then kicks out and looks to hit the Dead Eye, but Lethal reverses it into a pinfall. Page then kicks out and nails Lethal, then follows it up with the Buckshot Lariat for the win.

The winner of the Singles Match, “Hangman” Adam Page!

We then get a video hyping up the AEW American Championship Match between MJF and “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay at All In.

We then head to the back, where “The Bastard” PAC cuts a promo. PAC says he earned an AEW American Title shot and accuses Will Ospreay of stealing it from him. PAC then says that was his ticket to his Wembley moment. PAC then says it’s okay because he will face the winner of MJF vs. Ospreay for the AEW American Title at AEW All Out two weeks later.

We then get highlights of Darby Allin’s matches on Rampage and Collision.

We then get a video on Darby Allin. Allin speaks about how he killed himself on the independents for low pay. Allin then recalls sleeping in his car and then finding out that AEW signed Jack Perry. Allin then says he figured out that AEW was the place where The Elite would just hire their friends. Allin then says nobody believed Perry’s “Tarzan bullshit” and praises him for being himself rather than going by Jungle Boy. Allin then says he wishes Perry would have been fired for “the dumb shit he pulled” last year and said he didn’t think anyone would have missed him. Allin then says they will put an end to things at Wembley Stadium.

Darby Allin then makes his way down to the ring. AEW TNT Champion “The Scapegoat” Jack Perry hits Allin with a running knee on the ramp and both men brawl to the back. Allin and Perry then brawl on a road-case and Perry tosses a garbage can at Allin. Perry then sends Allin crashing into the garage, then squashes him under the garage and grabs a road-case. Officials then try to stop Perry, but Perry nails them and charges at Allin. Officials then stop Perry. Perry then looks into the camera and says he wants a Coffin Match.

We then get a video of “The Glamour” Mariah May. May asks if it’s better to be remembered or forgotten. May then says she copied Toni Storm’s successes and never her failures. May then says Storm’s greatest mistake is being alive at the same time as her. May then takes Storm’s gear and a photo and set them on fire. May then says one day she will look out the window and wonder what happened to Storm. May then says they will both die, but she gets to write Storm’s eulogy.

We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is interviewing Mina Shirakawa. Shirakawa says she has not spoken with Toni Storm or Mariah May. Shirakawa then says she can’t believe these are the same people she knew and hopes that no one gets hurt.

Excalibur then says Tony Khan has booked Darby Allin vs. Jack Perry in a Coffin Match for the TNT Title at AEW All In.

We then get the entrances of the next match of the night, which is a 3-Way Match For The #1 Spot In The Casino Gauntlet At AEW All In.

3-Way Match For The #1 Spot In The Casino Gauntlet At AEW All In: The Conglomeration’s Kyle O’Reilly vs. The Conglomeration’s “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy vs. The Undisputed Kingdom’s Roderick Strong

The match starts off with Cassidy and O’Reilly double teaming on Strong. Strong then hits a forearm on Cassidy, then follows it up with a chop and sends him into the corner. O’Reilly then nails Strong with a boot on his midsection and Cassidy hits a tope suicida on Strong on the outside. Strong then hits O’Reilly with a backbreaker and a gutbuster on Cassidy. Strong then sends Cassidy crashing on top of O’Reilly, then hits a couple of backbreakers on both men and a back suplex on Cassidy. O’Reilly then hits a boot on Strong’s spine and a forearm, then locks in a Sleeper on Cassidy after both men take turns in pinning each other. Strong then locks in a double Boston Crab on Cassidy and O’Reilly, but both men escape.

Strong then hits a series of strikes on O’Reilly, but O’Reilly locks in a submission on Strong. Cassidy then hits an elbow drop to break the submission, but Matt Taven and Mike Bennett appear at ringside and capture the referee’s attention. Mark Briscoe and Tomohiro Ishii then make their way down to the ring to even the odds. Mark then sets up a chair in the ring and flies to land on Taven and Bennett before all four men brawl to the back. Cassidy then sends Strong crashing out of the ring and uses the chair to fly and land on him. Strong then hits a spinning sidewalk slam on O’Reilly on the outside. Strong then locks in a Sharpshooter on Cassidy. O’Reilly then breaks the hold and all three men exchange strikes with each other. Cassidy then hits a double hurricanrana on Strong and O’Reilly, then follows it up with a Tornado DDT on O’Reilly with Strong’s assistance. Cassidy then hits a Beach Break on Strong and a superkick on O’Reilly. Cassidy then looks to hit the Orange Punch on O’Reilly, but O’Reilly avoids it and locks in a Figure Four Leg Lock on Strong. Cassidy then breaks the hold with a kick on Strong. O’Reilly and Cassidy then double team on Strong, but Strong moves out of the way and Cassidy almost hits O’Reilly. O’Reilly and Strong then pin Cassidy, but the referee refuses to count the fall. O’Reilly and Strong then exchange forearms, but O’Reilly hits Cassidy as an accident while aiming for Strong. O’Reilly then cinches in a cross armbreaker on Strong, but Cassidy rolls him up for the win.

After the match, O’Reilly and Cassidy shakes hands.

We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is interviewing AEW Continental Champion “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada and Claudio Castagnoli regarding their match on next week’s Dynamite. Castagnoli speaks about making good on this title shot. Okada then mocks Castagnoli and says “Good luck, b***h.” After Okada walks away, Castagnoli says he wants The Rainmaker next week, not this version of Okada. Castagnoli then says Okada will have 99 problems and this b***h is number one.

Excalibur then narrates highlights of The Patriarchy’s Christian Cage serving as special referee on AEW Collision and making sure that the match between House of Black and Bullet Club Gold ended in a draw.

We then head to the back, where Christian Cage is being interviewed by Renee Paquette while Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne and Killswitch is standing by. Cage claims he called the Collision match right down the middle. Cage then says it wasn’t his fault that the two teams couldn’t answer the bell and were counted out. Cage then claims he will hold every AEW title at the same time. Cage then shifts his focus to Nick Wayne facing “that fatherless weirdo” Kip Sabian on Rampage. Cage then says he will not be there for the match because he doesn’t want to associate himself with bottom feeding losers in Norfolk. Cage then takes issue with something Paquette said and dismisses her, adding that she’s probably a worse mom than she is an interviewer.

Tony Schiavone then introduces HOOK and “The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil” HOOK makes his way down to the ring to address the AEW fans.

Tony Schiavone starts off by asking HOOK how is eye is doing after being hit by a fireball at the hands on Chris Jericho, Big Bill and Bryan Keith. HOOK says he can’t see out of his injured eye, but he can see out of his other eye. HOOK then tells Jericho that he wants a rematch for the FTW Championship tonight. Jericho’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring alongside Bill and Keith. Jericho says hi to the fans, then says HOOK is stupid for challenging him to a fight tonight. Jericho then tells HOOK he is not getting a fight because it’s not worth his time to fight him tonight. Jericho then says it’s worth his time to fight HOOK at Wembley Stadium at All In, but HOOK must agree that should he lose, it will be his final shot at the FTW Championship and he must beat Big Bill next week. Bill then warns HOOK that he’s going to beat him down and Jericho tells HOOK that he will see him at Wembley Stadium. HOOK then tells Jericho that he accepts his terms and warns Jericho that he will never be the same again.

The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) then make their way out for the next match of the night, which is AEW World Tag Team Championship Match. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caste) then runs out and attacks the Young Bucks from behind and then tosses them on the stage. The Bucks then rolls to the side of the stage and then Caster dives onto both of them. The Bucks then takes control of the brawl and the referee officially starts the match once one man from each team was inside the ring.

AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: The Elite’s The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) (c) vs. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster)

The match starts off with Anthony Bowens hitting a Famouser on Matthew as Billy Gunn appears at ringside, Max Caster then tags in and sends Nicholas Jackson out of the ring with Bowens. Nicholas then tags in and The Bucks hit a double boot on Caster’s midsection. The Bucks then double team Caster and Nicholas hits a jawbreaker on Caster. Matthew then tags back in and hits a double stomp on Caster as Nicholas holds him in place. Caster then hits a bodyslam on Matthew and Bowens climbs up to the middle rope. Matthew then escapes before hitting Bowens with a jawbreaker. Matthew then delivers some right hands on Caster in the corner, then nails him with the help of Nicholas. Both men then go tumbling out of the ring and Nicholas rips up a sign from a fan mocking The Bucks. Caster then sends Nicholas crashing into the ring apron spine first, then tosses the ripped up sign at him.

Both men then get back inside the ring and Matthew tags in. Caster then sends Nicholas onto the apron and Nicholas looks to hit an enzuigiri on Caster. Nicholas accidentally hits Matthew, opening the door for Caster to tag in Bowens. Bowens then double teams on The Bucks with Caster, but Matthew hits an assisted Sliced Bread on Bowens. Matthew then sends Bowens crashing into the mat and wears him down with a submission hold. Bowens then hits a double clothesline on The Bucks and tags in Caster. Nicholas then tags in and Caster delivers a few strikes on him. Caster then hits a Sling Blade and sends Matthew crashing into the top turnbuckle. Caster then gets Nicholas back inside the ring and climbs to the top, then hits a crossbody and goes for a pin. Matthew then breaks the fall, but Bowens goes after him. The Acclaimed then hits The Bucks with a double sidewalk slam. Matthew then tags in and Caster sends him crashing into Nicholas on the outside. Matthew and Caster are then sent crashing into the referee and Matthew takes advantage. Matthew then low blows Caster, then grabs one of the AEW World Tag Team Championship belts. FTR then make their way down to the ring and Dax Harwood grabs the title from Matthew. Harwood then delivers some right hands on Matthew and the referee calls for the bell.

The winners and still the AEW World Tag Team Champions due to a disqualification, The Elite’s The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson)!

After the match, Caster pushes Harwood off Matthew and officials run down to the ring to keep The Acclaimed and FTR separated.

We then head to the back, where Christopher Daniels is being interviewed by Renee Paquette after watching what just happened. Daniels makes an AEW World Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders Match between FTR and The Acclaimed official for AEW Collision this Saturday, with the winner receiving their shot at All In.

We then get a video package on Bryan Danielson’s career to the tune of Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).”

Blackpool Combat Club’s “The American Dragon Bryan Danielson” was then shown standing on the main floor dressed in non-wrestling attire. The crowd then cheers Danielson and Danielson gives them a wave.

We then get the entrances of the main event, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland vs. Blackpool Combat Club’s Wheeler Yuta

The match starts off with Strickland wasting no time in going after Yuta. Strickland sends Yuta’s head repeatedly bouncing off the barricade, then sends him colliding into the ring steps and continues wearing him down whilst getting in Danielson’s face. Strickland then sends Yuta back inside the ring and stares Danielson down, then hits Yuta with a couple of backbreakers and continues wearing him down with a series of submission holds. Yuta then delivers some stomps on Strickland, then sends him crashing into the ring post with a hurricanrana and follows it up with a tope suicida to land on Strickland on the outside. Yuta then sends Strickland back inside the ring, then looks to fly. Strickland then stops Yuta and locks in a crossface on him, but Yuta responds with an arm drag on Strickland and some Hammer and Anvil elbows. Yuta then wears Strickland down with a shoulder submission, then follows it up with a German suplex and goes for a pin. Strickland then kicks out and hits three House Calls on Yuta, then delivers stomps on him and some right and left hands and the referee calls for the bell.

After the match, Danielson slides inside the ring and Strickland immediately slides out. Strickland then grabs a mic and tells Danielson that he will show him and the world why he is the most dangerous man in wrestling. Strickland then says what he did to Yuta was an example of what he will do to Danielson at All In and his family will watch him beat Danielson down in the front row like he just had to do. Strickland then says he will fulfill Danielson’s promise to his daughter to retire him. Strickland and Nana then head to the back, but Strickland surprises Danielson and hits him with a House Call and mocks him with the Yes chants as the show comes to a close.
