Janel Grant accused Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis of serious misconduct, including sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking, with allegations dating back to March 2019. Recently, Grant sought records from Dr. Carlon Colker, a wellness doctor involved in her case. Although McMahon tried to block this request, a judge denied his attempt. Dr. Colker has denied any wrongdoing in his treatment of Grant. In response, Grant has filed a motion to strike Dr. Colker’s bill of discovery and now McMahon’s attorney has reacted to this development.
Janel Grant had earlier filed a pre-action discovery petition to obtain records from Dr. Carlon Colker and his clinic, Peak Wellness, Inc. She alleges that in November 2019, under Vince McMahon’s direction, she received undisclosed treatments at the clinic, including pills and IV infusions. When she inquired about these substances, Dr. Colker reportedly questioned her trust in him.
Last week, Dr. Colker responded with a complaint against Grant, denying her allegations and labeling them a “smear campaign.” He claims these allegations have significantly damaged his reputation, estimating the harm at “tens of millions of dollars.” Colker is seeking documentation he believes will refute Grant’s claims and also wants to depose her.
As a result, Grant filed a motion in Connecticut Superior Court to strike Colker’s complaint and dismiss his bill of discovery. She is also requesting statutory sanctions, costs, and attorneys’ fees against Colker and Peak Wellness. Grant’s legal team argues that Colker’s actions are an attempt to intimidate her and infringe on her First Amendment rights, describing his complaint as lacking valid grounds and an attempt to suppress her investigation into her medical care.
According to Josh Pollock of POST Wrestling, Vince McMahon’s lawyer stated that Ms. Grant initially filed a baseless lawsuit to damage McMahon’s reputation. Although she agreed to pause the case at the government’s request, she continued to harass McMahon and his associates by starting another unfounded legal action against Dr. Colker and discussing it with the media. McMahon plans to use all available resources to put an end to what he describes as this harmful and unjust pursuit by Ms. Grant.
“Ms. Grant first brought frivolous litigation to publicly harm Mr. McMahon’s reputation. Then, despite agreeing to pause it at the Government’s request, she continued to publicly harass Mr. McMahon and those connected to him by initiating another frivolous action against Dr. Colker and talking to the media about it. Mr. McMahon will continue to use every tool at his disposal to end this malicious and meritless pursuit by Ms. Grant.”
Judge Jeffrey Meyer also ruled against McMahon’s attempt to block the petition for these records and Vince McMahon’s attorney has already released statement regarding the denial. Regardless, it remains to be seen how the lawsuit will progress as there are quite a few elements to it so it might take a considerable amount of time to reach a conclusion.
