WWE has seen several main roster stars make appearances in NXT for special matches, and Otis recently made his return to the brand after not being a regular since his time as one half of Heavy Machinery. This time, he stepped into the ring to challenge for the NXT North American Title during the August 13 episode.

Oba Femi, the seemingly unbeatable North American Champion, has been on a dominant run. With NXT back on the USA Network, Femi issued an open challenge, and Otis answered the call. This marked the second championship match of the night on NXT, following Charley Dempsey’s victory to reclaim the NXT Heritage Cup. Femi entered the ring with his usual confidence, while the fans rallied behind Otis as the overwhelming babyface. However, Femi was not fazed by the crowd’s reaction.

As the match began, both Otis and Femi showcased their strength in a hard-hitting contest. Otis managed to send Femi over the ropes to the floor, but Femi quickly regained control of the match. Despite Otis’ efforts to rally, Femi took advantage, moving out of the way of Otis’ charge in the corner and delivering a punishing clothesline to the back of Otis’ neck, sending him to the floor outside.

Tozawa, who was at ringside, also felt the wrath of Femi, which further enraged Otis. Otis tackled Femi and brought the fight to the outside, where he managed to get the fans behind him with a few moves, including his signature caterpillar. However, Femi kicked out of Otis’ pin attempt and a splash in the corner.

In a decisive moment, Oba Femi lifted Otis for a powerbomb and delivered it in the center of the ring, securing a clean victory. Femi celebrated his win as the fans in the NXT Arena cheered him on, solidifying his status as the dominant North American Champion.
