CM Punk has been in constant pursuit of Drew McIntyre for the past several months now and it came to a head at RAW this week. With that said, Punk also linked up with ex-WWE star Funaki after the show.

On the August 12 edition of RAW, Drew McIntyre was informed by RAW General Manager Adam Pearce that CM Punk had encountered travel issues. Unfazed, McIntyre focused on his pursuit of the World Heavyweight Championship. Later in the show, an intense exchange took place between Gunther and Randy Orton, with Gunther making deeply personal remarks about Orton and his family. As Orton prepared to retaliate, McIntyre headed to the ring.

Unexpectedly, CM Punk appeared and launched a surprise attack on McIntyre. Punk used McIntyre’s own leather belt to whip him multiple times before fleeing the scene, leaving McIntyre seething in the ring.

Former WWE Superstar Funaki, who was a mainstay of WWE television during the Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression era, took to his Instagram and uploaded a photo of himself alongside CM Punk backstage after the show.

”w/ Mr. @cmpunk ! It was a great seeing you! Yes, INDEED! #wweraw”

Drew McIntyre also showed off his brutal welts after CM Punk’s assault. Regardless, fans were happy to see Funaki, who hasn’t competed in WWE for several years and that’s all that matters to them.

What are your thoughts on CM Punk’s surprise attack on Drew McIntyre, and how do you think this rivalry will escalate moving forward? Also, how do you feel about seeing Funaki backstage with Punk after all these years? Share your opinions in the comments!
