Kane Addresses Running for President

WWE Hall of Famer Kane is certainly one of the most respected and loved Superstars in all of WWE, but he is also involved in the world of politics as he is the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. With that said, Kane has addressed running for President.

Kane has transitioned into politics, being elected as the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, in 2018. Glenn Jacobs, the man behind the mask, won a second term as Mayor in 2022.

Kane recently joined Maintaining with Tyrus for a discussion about the current political climate in the United States with other former WWE stars. During the conversation, he was asked if he has ever considered running for president. He responded that he has not, expressing no interest in pursuing a role in Washington DC.

Kane emphasized that he believes significant progress can be achieved at the local and state levels, particularly at the state level.

“No, it’s not. I have no desire to go to Washington DC. I think that there’s a lot of things that can be done at the local and state level, especially at the state level.”

Kane stated that improvements in the country can be made through effective state-level policies. He shared his perspective on why he is not keen on engaging deeply with Washington politics, describing the environment there as overly complex and disheartening. He noted that many well-intentioned individuals enter Washington but often become disillusioned, either feeling unable to effect change or becoming part of the established system out of necessity.

“Washington, man, it’s just, there’s just so many things going on up there, and it really is a swamp. Good people go in, and they get frustrated because they can’t change, or in some cases, they just throw up their hands and leave, or sometimes they unfortunately become part of the machine because that’s the only way to survive.

So I really think that a lot of changes can be made, especially at the state level, which would be productive for where you live. Ultimately then that would be productive for the entire country.”

On the other hand, Cody Rhodes hasn’t ruled out running for President one day. Nonetheless, Kane clearly has his own priorities and wants to help in his own way and that’s all that matters to him.
