At the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank event in Toronto, John Cena announced that he would be retiring from professional wrestling. Although his farewell tour is set to begin next year, Cena has firmly stated that nothing, not even a financial offer, will persuade him to reconsider his decision.

In his announcement, John Cena revealed that he will play a role in the transition of WWE RAW to Netflix. He also shared that his final wrestling appearances will be at the Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 2025. Instead of a single retirement match, Cena will embark on a farewell tour in 2025, spanning 100 dates. His in-ring career is scheduled to conclude in December 2025.

While speaking in an interview with ComicBook.com to promote his Amazon film Jackpot, John Cena talked about his retirement plans. Cena stated that no amount of money could change his decision to retire in December.

The Leader of Cenation stated that his decision is not driven by ego or financial gain but by a commitment to maintaining the trust and authenticity he has built with WWE over the years. Cena assured fans that his retirement will be final, and December will mark the end of his in-ring career.

“There isn’t a check writer with enough money to change my mind when I hang it up in December. I don’t want to continue for ego or financial gain. I built a relationship of trust and authenticity over the years with the WWE, and that’s people who think I suck and people who believe in me, they know that I shoot them straight and I’m trustworthy. I mean what I say: when I’m done in December, I am done. It is the last time I will perform in a ring.”

We have also reported that WWE is already considering opponents for John Cena and he also wants to compete in the UK next year. It remains to be seen how Cena’s retirement tour will turn out, as fans might not be mentally prepared to see Cena retire next year.
