WWE Hall of Famer Madusa was a trailblazer for women’s wrestling back in the day and she keeps up with the latest pro wrestling companies as well, especially AEW. That is why she has also addressed the unprotected chair shot from AEW’s Blood & Guts match this year.

On the July 24th episode of Dynamite, AEW hosted its fourth Blood & Guts match at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The high-stakes clash saw Team AEW, featuring Swerve Strickland, Mark Briscoe, Darby Allin, and The Acclaimed, take on The Elite, which included The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, Jack Perry, and Hangman Page.

The bout was a brutal affair, marked by extreme violence and perilous moments. Max Caster had thumbtacks jammed into his mouth before being superkicked by The Young Bucks. In a particularly brutal segment, Jack Perry, who was handcuffed to the cage, took an unprotected chair shot to the head from Mark Briscoe, who used Perry’s own ‘scapegoat’ chair.

While speaking on her YouTube Channel, Madusa was asked about the unprotected chair shot spot from Blood & Guts. Madusa expressed her concerns about the situation. She was surprised that the chair shot was delivered front face, questioning whether the wrestler knew it was coming or if it was a surprise.

Madusa noted that the wrestler should have turned his head to mitigate the impact rather than taking it head-on, which could result in a busted nose. She criticized the decision to proceed without any form of protection, stating that she disagrees with such practices as they almost guarantee major concussions and significant damage.

”Front face? Wow. Did he know the chair shot was coming at that point, or was it a surprise? Did he not turn his head? Oh, it wasn’t. He knew it was coming then.

Well he could have turned his face to the side and secure the blow instead of face it head on and get a busted nose. I don’t know who called that without protecting himself. “I don’t agree with something like that. I mean, you’re almost putting yourself out there to suffer a major concussion and major damage.”

When it was pointed out to Madusa that Tony Khan defended the unprotected chair shot by saying that AEW knew what they were doing to take care of their wrestlers, Madusa simply stated that there was nothing else he could have said.

Well, what else is he going to say?

Jim Ross was very uncomfortable with the chair shot and it was also reported that the chair shot was with gimmick chair. Regardless, AEW might just avoid such spots in the future and that is for the best.
