WWE has signed many talented Superstars over the years, and their NIL program has enabled them to ink deals with numerous athletes before they gain broader recognition. This was the case for Masai Russell, who has achieved significant success outside WWE.
The 2024 Olympic Games are currently underway, and despite the initial controversy sparked by a Logan Paul tweet that WWE couldn’t support, and everything that Val Venis said, the games are seeing winners receive their medals in Paris. Triple H wanted to acknowledge one athlete with whom he shares another connection.
In response to NBC’s Twitter account sharing a video of the 100-meter hurdles, Triple H congratulated the winner. Masai Russell, part of WWE’s NIL signees, is now a Gold Medal winner.
“Huge congrats to inaugural #WWENIL class member Masai Russell on taking home Olympic gold in the 100m hurdles.”
Masai Russell was announced as one of the members of the inaugural WWE Next In Line class on December 8, 2021. Although she didn’t end up in the ring, and decided to stay on the running track, she certainly had options. She may have an open door waiting for her in WWE if she ever chooses to return, but she seems to be thriving as a Nike-sponsored runner.
We will keep a close eye on this story and everything else happening in the pro wrestling world. You never know where the next headline will come from, but we will be here to spread the word at Ringside News.
