Carmelo Hayes wrapped up his NXT tenure with loss to Trick Williams and wasted no time making an impact on SmackDown during the opening night of the 2024 WWE Draft. He has been feuding with Andrade for a while and even cost him a shot at the US Title and has now revealed why he ruined Andrade’s night.
During the August 9th edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Santos Escobar and Andrade squared off against each other for a shot at LA Knight’s United States Championship at Bash in Berlin.
During the match, Carmelo Hayes interfered by jumping up on the apron, but Andrade nailed him with a back elbow on Escobar. Andrade went for a pin, but Escobar kicked out. Andrade charged at Escobar in the corner, but Hayes pulled Escobar out of the way from the outside, unnoticed by the referee. Escobar then took advantage of the situation and rolled up Andrade for the win.
WWE took to its official Twitter account and uploaded a video of Carmelo Hayes after the show, where he explained his actions for interfering in Andrade’s match. Hayes simply stated that he was a true hater and wouldn’t let Andrade win.
”Andrade, hey man, if I can’t win, you can’t either. I’m a hater to the day I die.”
We will have to wait and see how WWE will continue to book Andrade and Carmelo Hayes’ feud in the coming weeks, as it has become quite clear they aren’t finished with each other.
