Bret Hart has long harbored deep resentment towards Bill Goldberg over the infamous career-ending kick delivered at Starrcade 1999, and he has been vocal about his grievances with his former rival. However, he also accused Booker T of being unsafe in the ring recently and now Booker T has addressed the same.

Bret Hart has created controversy with his outspoken views, which haven’t always been well-received. While some might assume that Bret holds resentment over certain aspects of his wrestling career, he has clarified that he is simply expressing his opinions and understands that not everyone will agree with him.

Last month, Bret Hart shared a story from his time in WCW, where he banned Booker T from using the Scissor Kick on him. Hart felt the move was dangerous because it drove his head into the ring canvas each time it was executed.

“Man, that’s a really dangerous move, that one (Bret said while looking at a photo of Booker T doing Scissors Kick to him) … When he did that to me, it drove my head right into the mat… Between him and Goldberg, they were trying to kill me.”

That was a really dangerous move. I had to tell him to stop. He couldn’t do it to me anymore. He (did it to) me two or three times and every time he did, drove my head right into the — almost right through the boards.”

While speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T responded to these claims as he disputed Hart’s story, saying he never hurt Hart during their matches and suggested that Hart might have been sarcastic. Booker T expressed that he and Hart had great chemistry and that working with Hart was a highlight of his career.

“I think Bret was just being sarcastic. Me and Bret had great chemistry. We had a great time. I know it was a highlight of my career. I don’t remember ever hurting Bret Hart. But I have nothing but praise for ‘The Hitman.’”

Booker T also addressed the possibility that he might have accidentally hurt Hart with the Scissor Kick. He explained that if such an incident took place, he would have apologized after the match and would have accepted a legitimate move from Hart in response, as that was the norm in the industry at the time. He emphasized that wrestling isn’t about perfection, but rather about performing and handling any issues professionally backstage.

“It ain’t ballet … I’m not gonna sit here and try to justify me whacking Bret Hart. If I whacked him, I whacked him. But it was for the business.

That’s what it was about back then. It was about going out there, performing, and saying I’m sorry when we get to the back. We don’t apologize in the ring. … or give me a receipt. I don’t mind getting a receipt.”

With that said, Bret Hart already received support for his bitterness approach. Regardless, Bret Hart has a right to his own opinion and many won’t agree with him, as Booker T certainly does not.
