Scott D’Amore’s abrupt departure from his position as TNA President definitely sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling community. As a pivotal figure in the promotion, his absence created a huge void and now he has finally revealed when he came to know about his TNA firing.
Anthem Sports & Entertainment Inc. angered the wrestling community by appointing Anthony Cicione as the new President of TNA Wrestling, replacing the long-serving Scott D’Amore. D’Amore’s exit marked the end of a significant era, during which he was instrumental in guiding TNA through various changes and challenges.
While speaking to Busted Open Radio, Scott D’Amore talked about his TNA firing. He admitted that he was not entirely surprised as he was aware of the behind-the-scenes changes leading up to it. D’Amore found out about his firing just two days before the Hard to Kill event.
Despite being aware of the impending changes, he focused on his professional responsibilities and continued with the TNA brand project he had been leading. Although it was a difficult moment, he remained committed to his work and aimed to make a strong final impression after seven years with the company.
‘It wasn’t a total shock to me because I saw all the moves behind the scenes and we had our build up to it. I found out what was happening with me two days before Hard to Kill. So actually before we did that new culmination of the TNA brand that I spearheaded from head to tail, I found out what was in the cards but I did what professionals do, I locked it out in my brain and did my job. Sure it was gutting, but I went there, we put on those shows and I wanted to put that exclamation mark of seven years of what I did.”
Scott D’Amore recently revived his Maple Pro Wrestling promotion and will be holding a couple of shows in October, but he is allegedly being paid to stay at home till early next year as well. Regardless, D’Amore has moved on from his time in TNA and fans are excited to see how he fares with his Maple Pro Wrestling company now.
