LA Knight’s Next Challenger for US Title Determined During 8/9 WWE SmackDown

LA Knight won the WWE United States Title at SummerSlam, and that was followed by news of an extended contract with a much more lucrative restructured package. He needed a challenger for that new piece of hardware, and WWE settled that during the August 9, 2024 episode of WWE SmackDown.

Andrade and Santos Escobar threw down this week on SmackDown to determine who would be the next to face LA Knight for the United States Title. Bash in Berlin is coming on August 31, and the company needed a worthy opponent for LA Knight.

LA Knight cut a promo for the crowd before this match kicked off. He stated that he planned to “hit it and quit it” with Logan Paul at SummerSlam. Then Santos Escobar came out to the ring and confronted LA Knight. After a back and forth between the two, Andrade made his way to the ring for their #1 contenders match.

Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews jumped Angel and Alberto at ringside to even things up for Andrade. Still, Escobar gained the upper hand as he knocked Andrade to the outside. In the end, Santos won the match to claim the #1 contender spot. He will now face LA Knight for his title.
