Professional wrestlers and movies have long been connected, including with Marvel films. Kevin Nash knows this all too well as he was previously part of a Marvel movie and now he has responded to being recast in the new ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ film.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the third installment in the Deadpool series and stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the film was released last week and has gotten universal praise and acclaim from fans and critics alike.
WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has made his opinion clear about the recasting of his role in Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine.” In the film, which features several returning Marvel characters and cameos from previous 20th Century Fox productions, Nash’s character, the Russian from the 2004 film “The Punisher,” was replaced by Billy Clements.
In “The Punisher,” Nash’s character is sent to assassinate the titular character in his home, but his screen time is limited and ends with his death during the confrontation. Nash reacted to the recasting on his show Kliq This, being disappointed that the new portrayal did not resemble the original character he played and suggesting that the recasting seemed more like a favor to someone instead of a faithful representation of his role.
“That doesn’t even … that looks nothing like the character I played. That looks nothing like the Russian. It looks like they gave somebody a favor.”
We had also reported that a former WWE developmental talent was part of the “Deadpool & Wolverine film. Nonetheless, Nash is certainly not happy with his role being recast and that’s not going to change.
