Matt Riddle did face controversy during his time in WWE due to issues outside the wrestling ring, which ultimately led to his release from the company. Since then, he has been actively competing in various wrestling promotions but it appears he has claimed that Bret Hart snubbed him backstage in WWE.
On the other hand, Bret Hart is a wrestler who has stirred controversy with his views, which haven’t always been received positively. While some might presume that Bret harbors resentment over certain aspects of his wrestling career, he has clarified that he merely articulates his opinions and acknowledges that not everyone will agree with him.
While speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling, Matt Riddle talked about his feelings about Bill Goldberg, particularly in relation to Goldberg’s role in Bret Hart’s early retirement. Riddle, a big fan of Hart, expressed his discontent with Goldberg’s actions but shared an anecdote about meeting Hart at a WrestleMania event.
“That’s also another reason why I’m not a huge fan [of Goldberg],” Riddle said, referring to Goldberg injuring Hart. “Big Hitman fan. I will say this, though, big Hitman fan growing up, right? Not happy with Bill with what he did, right? But then I met Bret at a WrestleMania, and I was at catering. If you’ve ever been, it’s pretty nice, you know? So I’m at catering, I’m enjoying it, and I get a table with Bret Hart and I’m like, ‘Oh, this is cool.’ I’m not gonna be a super mark, but I’m gonna ask a couple of questions, it’s The Hitman.”
Riddle recalled enjoying catering at the event and finding himself at the same table as Hart. Despite his excitement, Riddle mentioned that Hart snubbed him and Damian Priest, instead focusing on conversations with nearby attractive women and discussing their work rates.
“Bret wouldn’t even respond to me or my friend Damian Priest at the time because we were sitting next to some pretty attractive ladies. [Bret Hart] asked them about their work rate, this, that, and the other, you know? Didn’t ask me and Priest a single [question], you know? We didn’t talk.”
With that said, Bret Hart already received support for his bitterness approach. Goldberg also believes Bret Hart needs to grow up and let go of all the animosity he has harbored over the years. Regardless, Hart will do what he wants to and that’s not changing anytime soon.
