WWE’s Internal Discussions About The Lucha Brothers Amidst Looming AEW Contract Expiry

Penta El Zero Miedo, one-half of the acclaimed Lucha Brothers with Rey Fenix, has been a key figure in AEW since its inception in 2019. As their contracts near expiration, WWE has reportedly been in talks about potentially bringing the Lucha Brothers into the company.

As reported earlier, Penta El Zero Miedo’s contract with AEW is set to expire between August and September 2024, making him potential free agent and it was noted he was open to leaving WWE. There is interest from WWE in acquiring his services as well. The same was said about Rey Fenix, as both of their contracts will be expiring this year.

It was then reported that the belief within AEW is that both Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix may leave the company for WWE once their contracts expire.

Fightful Select reports that there has been significant speculation about Fenix and Penta’s status with AEW. Sources indicate that while AEW has been interested in re-signing the duo, the process has been delayed by Penta and Fenix. Recent signs, including a cryptic tweet from Konnan, suggested that the duo may not be looking to renew with AEW.

There have been internal discussions in WWE about bringing them in, and it seems they prefer not to go to NXT but rather make a direct move to the main roster. Some sources even hint that the Lucha Bros might be preparing for this transition soon.

Additionally, it’s been mentioned that the duo might have already had discussions with WWE and that there’s a preliminary offer on the table that matches AEW’s. WWE sources, however, have not commented on these developments.

Many fans feel the Lucha Brothers leaving AEW would be a huge blow to the company, considering their contributions to AEW over the past several years. Regardless, only time will tell what Penta and Fenix will do in the end.
