Trick Williams hasn’t been the same since losing the NXT Championship at Heatwave last month but he has been feuding with Pete Dunne for a while. However, Williams lost to Dunne this week and he has now reacted to the same.
During NXT Great American Bash Week 2 on August 6, NXT kicked off with Trick Williams squaring off against Pette Dunne. The match began with Williams landing a dropkick on Dunne and following up with a few chops. Dunne countered with a submission hold, but Williams escaped with a vertical suplex and attempted a pin, which Dunne kicked out of. Dunne applied another submission, snapping and stomping on Williams’ fingers. Williams broke free with a powerbomb, and they exchanged strikes.
Dunne attempted a move from the corner, but Williams caught him with a neckbreaker and went for a pin, only for Dunne to kick out. Dunne then stomped on Williams’ tricep and hit him with an elbow strike. After some back-and-forth, Dunne executed a German suplex and a roundhouse kick before climbing to the top rope. Williams intercepted with an avalanche flapjack, but Dunne kicked out of the pin attempt.
Williams tried the Trick Shot, but Dunne countered with a forearm and a step-up enzuigiri, followed by a powerbomb and several stomps to Williams’ face. Williams, now frustrated, landed a series of chops and right hands, but Dunne snapped his fingers and avoided the Trick Shot, sending Williams into the corner. Dunne then secured the win with The Bitter End.
Following his shocking defeat, Trick Williams took to Twitter and reflected on his loss, as he promised to be better, as many fans appreciated him for all of his efforts over the past few weeks.
”I will be better”
We will have to wait and see what’s next in store for Trick Williams as fans want him to eventually get back into the main event scene and reclaim the NXT Championship to become a two-time champion.
